With the Momice Check-in app, you can check in event attendees using a smartphone or tablet. The app works on iOS and Android devices and uses the device's camera to scan QR codes. You don't need a separate handheld scanner or an additional scanning app.
In this article, you'll learn what to consider when choosing a suitable device for checking in attendees at your event.
What requirements should your smartphone or tablet meet?
You can use your own smartphone or tablet or purchase a new device.
When choosing a device, consider the following specifications:
Operating system: Choose a recent iOS or Android device that still receives software updates. This will allow you to use the device for longer.
Internet connection: Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection or mobile internet via 4G or higher. Want to switch between the two? Choose a device that supports both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
RAM: The Momice Check-in app is a lightweight app. 2 GB of RAM is sufficient.
Bluetooth: Choose a device with Bluetooth 5.0 or higher to connect to a printer.
Camera: We recommend a camera with at least 5 megapixels. Test in advance whether the camera can quickly recognize QR codes, including under the lighting conditions at your event venue.
Battery: Choose a device with a long battery life so you can continue checking in attendees without having to recharge during the event.
Which smartphones and tablets are suitable?
A recent iPhone or iPad is a suitable choice. If you prefer Android, you can choose a device such as a Samsung Galaxy or Galaxy Tab.
Devices from other brands can also be used, as long as they meet the specifications listed above.
Please note: Not all tablets support mobile data. Before purchasing a tablet, check whether it only supports Wi-Fi or can also connect to 4G or 5G networks.
Test your device before the event
Before your event, make sure your device works properly at the venue. Pay particular attention to:
The stability of the Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection.
How quickly the camera scans QR codes.
The Bluetooth connection to the printer, if you plan to print badges.
The battery life during extended use.
Tip: Test the entire check-in process before your event to make sure scanning QR codes and printing badges, if applicable, work correctly.
