FAQ – Switching from Adyen to Mollie

The switch from Adyen to Mollie ensures that payments are now paid out directly to your own account, giving you more insight and control over your finances

Updated today

What happens to our existing Adyen accounts?

Your existing Adyen account will remain active for ongoing and completed events. Nothing changes in the processing of payments that are already running via Adyen.

What does this mean for you?

  • Ticket revenue is paid out directly into your own Mollie account

  • You gain faster insight into your income

  • The Momice service fee is automatically charged

What happens to events that are already running via Adyen?

Revenue in Adyen will continue to be paid out in the same way you are used to: approximately 7 days after the event’s end date.

Once your Mollie account has been created and connected, all new payments will automatically be processed via Mollie and paid directly into your own account. This applies to all your events, including ongoing events that previously ran via Adyen.

Will anything else change with this transition?

Yes, with Mollie you gain more options and control over your payments and finances. The basic functionality of paid tickets remains the same, but additional features are added. Read below to learn more about the benefits of switching to Mollie.

What are the benefits of switching to Mollie?

With Mollie, you benefit from:

  • Direct payouts to your own account

  • The option to pay via bank transfer

  • Greater insight into your event finances

  • More control over your cash flow, without dependency on Momice

What are the downsides of switching to Mollie?

You will need to create and set up a Mollie account yourself. This requires a one-time effort on your side.

Can we continue using Adyen?

The transition to the new paid ticket system is mandatory. However, no worries: the workflow within Momice, for both you and your participants, will largely remain the same.

Additionally, we are introducing a much-requested feature: payment via bank transfer. You will also gain more financial insight with the switch to Mollie.

Can we continue using paid tickets as we are used to?

Switching to the new Mollie-based workflow is mandatory. However, the way of working remains largely the same. You will also gain additional features, such as payment on invoice and more detailed financial insights.

Do you already have an event where paid tickets are sold via Adyen? Then the transition to Mollie will happen automatically and smoothly. Visitors will not notice this change.

Why are we switching to Mollie?

We are making this switch to provide more flexibility, transparency, and control over payments and financial processing. Mollie better aligns with the need for independence and expanded payment options.

Is it a lot of work to create a Mollie account?

Creating a Mollie account is simple, but does require a short setup on your side. This includes entering company details and linking a bank account.

Where can we get help with setting up a Mollie account?

Do you have questions about setting up your Mollie account? You can first contact Mollie’s support team. If you are unable to resolve your issue with Mollie, we are happy to help. In that case, please contact your Momice contact person. Not sure who that is? Send an email to [email protected].

Are there any additional costs associated with the switch?

There are no additional costs from Momice for switching to Mollie.

How does payment via bank transfer work?

With bank transfer payments, a participant can register without paying immediately. The invoice contains all the necessary information to complete the payment. This allows payments to be handled by a company’s finance department.

Who follows up on outstanding invoices?

This remains the responsibility of your organization.

Are there any implications for the finance department?

There are a few changes to take into account:

  • Payments are received directly in your own bank account

  • You gain more insight and responsibility over your event’s financial administration

  • Bank statements and follow-ups are managed internally
