Follow-up questions allow you to show additional questions based on an invitee’s answer. For workshop questions, you can also set a maximum number of participants for each answer option.
Setting up follow-up questions
A follow-up question is only shown when an invitee selects a specific answer.
You can set up follow-up questions for:
workshop questions
closed questions
multiple choice questions
You cannot set up a follow-up question for a checkbox or open question.
How to set up a follow-up question
First create the main question and all required follow-up questions.
Open the main question using the pencil icon.
Go to the "Dependency" tab.
Link the required follow-up question to the correct answer option.
Save your changes.
In the registration form, you can recognize linked main questions and follow-up questions by the link icon.
Important points for follow-up questions
You can set a maximum of one follow-up question per answer option.
In the "Dependency" tab, you can see which links have been created.
There is no limit to the total number of follow-up questions.
Keep the registration form as short as possible for the invitee.
Please note: Make sure the main question and all related follow-up questions are linked to the same access ticket. If they are linked to different access tickets, invitees may not be able to register correctly.
Tip: Test the full registration flow before sending your invitations. Make sure to check all follow-up questions and different answer combinations.
Can I add an ‘Other’ option with a text field?
Not directly. An Other answer option cannot automatically include a free-text field.
You can set this up using a follow-up question instead.
How to set this up
Create a closed registration question.
Add Other as an answer option.
Create an open question where the invitee can enter their own answer.
Open the closed registration question using the pencil icon.
Go to "Dependency".
Link the open question to the Other answer option.
Save your changes.
The open question will only appear when the invitee selects Other.
Please note: Make sure the main question and the open follow-up question are linked to the same access ticket.
Workshop questions and capacity
With a workshop question, you can let invitees choose from different workshops or sessions.
Each workshop or session is an answer option within the workshop question.
You can set a maximum number of participants for each answer option.
Setting capacity
Set the required maximum number of participants for each answer option.
Once the maximum has been reached:
the answer option is grayed out;
the invitee can no longer select it.
If all answer options for the workshop question are full, the invitee will see the message ‘all sessions are full’.
Please note: Capacity is set on the answer options of the workshop question. You do not set a separate maximum on a program item.
What happens when an answer option is full?
Once the maximum number of participants for an answer option has been reached, that option is automatically blocked.
The invitee can still see the option, but can no longer select it.
For workshop questions, the message ‘all sessions are full’ only appears once all available answer options have reached their maximum capacity.
Combining follow-up questions with workshop questions
You can also show a follow-up question based on the workshop or session selected by the invitee.
For example:
The invitee selects Workshop A.
An additional question appears that is only relevant to participants of Workshop A.
Set up this link in the "Dependency" tab of the workshop question.
Please note: The main question and follow-up question must also be linked to the same access ticket.
Tip: Always test a workshop question using different answer options. Also check what the invitee sees when one or more options are full.
