Changing the registration type (open or personal) affects your event. This cannot always be done easily, especially if a list has already been imported. Please read the information below carefully.
From open registration to personal registration
Situation
Is the registration set to open and has a list already been imported?
Then the registration cannot simply be changed to personal registration.
You cannot adjust this yourself.
This also cannot be resolved directly via support without additional steps.
Why not?
With open registration:
No personal codes are generated.
Email addresses are not linked to unique registration codes.
If you later switch to personal registration:
Each invitee must have a unique code or an email address used as a code.
This link does not exist at that moment.
Without this connection:
The invitee will not be recognized when accessing the registration form.
An error message will appear stating that the email address is unknown or not in use.
The registration cannot be completed.
What are the solutions?
There are two ways to still work with personal registration:
Option 1 – Delete the list (recommended)
Delete the imported list in the Registration Module using the "Clear list" button.
Note: this is only possible if no one is marked as “Registered”.After deleting the list, you can change the registration from open to personal yourself.
Then re-import the correct list.
Option 2 – Manual change + data enrichment
Via [email protected], we can manually change the registration from open to personal.
Important:
You must then perform a data enrichment yourself.
This will assign unique codes or link the email address to all invitees.
If this is not done:
Invitees will not be recognized when accessing the registration form.
An error message will appear stating that the email address is unknown or not in use.
The registration cannot be completed.
This option therefore requires an additional manual step. Read more about data enrichment here.
From personal registration to open registration
Via [email protected], we can manually adjust the registration, but:
You must be certain about this choice.
The change cannot be undone.
We therefore advise only making this change if you are sure you no longer want to work with personal codes.
Please note
Do not change registration settings after importing a list.
Do not test with open registration first and then switch to personal registration.
Decide in advance which registration type you want to use.
Are you using the guest (introducee) add-on? No personal codes are created for introducees. If you want to change an introducee’s registration, you must manually enter an email address or unique code.
An invitee is only recognized if a unique code or email address is known.
This prevents error messages, unrecognized invitees, and additional manual work.
