Test a survey

Learn how to test a survey before activating it. Check questions, answers, skip logic and test results before sharing the survey.

Test your survey before sharing it with respondents. This allows you to check the questions, answer options, and any skip logic you have configured.

You can complete the survey multiple times while testing.

Test your survey

  1. Open the survey as a respondent would.

  2. Complete all questions.

  3. Check the text and answer options.

  4. Test different answer paths if you are using skip logic.

  5. After completing the survey, check whether the answers appear correctly in the results.

  6. Repeat the test if needed.

Delete test results

Remove your test results before real respondents start completing the survey.

You can delete your test results via Statistics Module > Survey > Reset statistics.

Please note: If you keep your test results, they will be included in your final survey results.

View the welcome page again

After you start a survey, the welcome page may not appear again in the same browser session. This happens because information is stored in your browser.

To view the survey again from the beginning, clear the stored browser data for the page or open the survey in another browser or a private browsing window.

Error message after moving questions

If you change the order of your questions while testing, your browser may still contain answers linked to the previous question order.

This can cause an error message while testing. In that case:

  • clear the stored browser data

  • open the survey in another browser or a private browsing window

This issue is caused by locally stored data during testing and does not necessarily mean new respondents will experience the same problem.

Tip: Finalize the structure of your survey as much as possible before testing it extensively.
