Widgets on the Homepage

Learn how to use Homepage widgets to build your event website. In this article, you’ll find out which widgets are available, how to add and customize them, and what to keep in mind for desktop and mobile display.

With widgets, you can easily build the Homepage of your event website. A widget is a content block that you can place anywhere on the page.

Most widgets are based on the content of your detail pages. That is why you first need to complete the detail pages. After that, you can build the Homepage using the available content blocks.

You can do the following with widgets at any time:

  • add

  • move

  • edit

  • delete

For each widget, you can usually adjust the content, background, image, and button. You can add new widgets via Website Module > Pages > Homepage.

Header

The Header is the first widget visitors see. It displays a full-width image at the top of the Homepage.

Under "Text", you can choose whether to show a logo or a title. You can also add a call to action, such as:

  • Register

  • Buy your ticket

You can link this button to, for example, the registration page.

Image

With the Image widget, you can easily place an image anywhere on the Homepage. You can also use this widget instead of the Header widget. The image automatically scales to fit the screen size. You can also optionally set a separate image for mobile view.

Tip: add a color filter to give all images on your website a consistent look.

Text + image

With the Text + image widget, you can display text next to an image on the Homepage.

This widget always consists of 2 columns. On desktop, these are shown side by side. On mobile, the columns are stacked.

Layout and display

Under "Text", you can choose to display:

  • text on the left and image on the right

  • image on the left and text on the right

Under "More options", you can:

  • vertically align the text to the top, middle, or bottom

  • set the column ratio between the text and image

Uploading an image

In the "Image" tab, upload the image you want to use. The optimal width is 627 pixels.

  • Is the image wider than 627 pixels? Then it fills the full width of the container while keeping its original proportions.

  • Is the image narrower than 627 pixels? Then it is displayed at its original size.

You cannot adjust the height of the image in Momice. If you upload a tall image, the widget will also become tall.

Tip: want to adjust the image height? Edit the image beforehand in an external program, such as PowerPoint.

Important

  • It is not possible to make the image fill the entire widget. As a result, part of the background may remain visible at the top or bottom.

  • This can potentially be resolved with custom CSS. Momice does not provide support for this.

  • In mobile view, the text is always shown above the image, even if you selected image left and text right on desktop.

  • When the screen is resized to a smaller width, the image will appear below the text. This cannot be changed due to WCAG guidelines.

Text

Use the Text widget for a short paragraph on your website. You can:

  • format text in the text editor

  • add a background color

  • add a background image

  • add a button

This widget is suitable for short, clear content blocks.

Countdown clock

The Countdown clock widget shows how much time is left until the event starts. As soon as you enter the event start date and time, the clock starts counting down automatically.

You can match the widget to your branding by changing elements such as:

  • background color

  • font color

Please note: daylight saving time and standard time affect the displayed time. The clock is adjusted automatically so that the correct local time is always shown.

Pages

Have you completed the content of your website pages? If so, you can also add that content to the Homepage as widgets.

For each page, you decide which elements you want to display. If a page contains multiple elements, you can select in the widget which parts should be visible.

For example, if a page contains multiple locations, you can choose to show only the most important location.

Horizontal line

With the Horizontal line widget, you can place a divider line before or after another widget.

You can adjust the following settings:

  • thickness

  • color

  • width

This helps make the page more organized and visually balanced.

Button

With the Button widget, you can add a call to action to your Homepage. This encourages visitors to take an action, such as:

  • buy a ticket

Choose a style and name for the button, then link it to a page on your event website.

QR code

For each event, Momice automatically creates a unique QR code. With the QR code widget, you can quickly direct visitors to the mobile event website.

Please note: are you using a customized URL? If so, replace the Momice URL in the QR code with your own customized URL. This keeps your event website fully white-labeled.

Map

The Map widget shows a map overview with the addresses of your event location(s).

You can choose from 6 styles:

  • Standard

  • Silver

  • Retro

  • Dark

  • Night

  • Aubergine

This allows you to match the map to the look and feel of your event website.

Custom HTML / CSS

With the Custom HTML / CSS widget, you can add your own code to the Homepage.

This gives you a lot of freedom to further personalize the page.

Please note: this widget is intended for advanced users. Momice does not provide support for custom HTML or CSS.
