Duplicate event

Easily duplicate an existing event to save time when creating recurring events. In this article, you will learn how duplication works, which elements are copied, and what to check before and after duplicating.

Would you like to save time on a recurring event? If so, you can duplicate an existing event website. This is also possible if the event is already in the archive.

A duplicate is useful when you want to reuse content for a weekly, monthly, or yearly recurring event.

How to duplicate an event from the archive

  1. Go to your dashboard.

  2. Click "Folders."

  3. Select "Archive."

  4. Select the event you want to duplicate.

  5. Click "Duplicate."

  6. Enter the event title, the expected number of registrations, the event type, and the URL.

  7. Click "Duplicate" again.

It may take a little while before the duplicated event appears in your dashboard. You can close the window in the meantime.

Who can duplicate an event?

Only the following users can duplicate an event:

  • users with the admin role

  • the owner of the event, as long as they have a Momice license

Please note: Do you not have the correct permissions? Then you cannot duplicate the event.

What is duplicated?

The following items are copied to the new event:

  • registration settings

  • design settings

  • homepage, including buttons with internal and external links

  • content of all other pages, including images, documents, and videos

  • survey questions

  • location details

  • sponsors

  • video and photo pages

  • registration questions and answer options

  • registration confirmation(s)

  • access ticket settings, including any links to registration questionnaires

  • invitee lists

    • personal data is not duplicated

  • sent emails

    • these are added as drafts in the Mail Module

    • the duplication date is used as the creation date

Please note: Only sent emails are duplicated as drafts in the new event. This also applies to template events.

Always check this after duplicating

Always review your duplicated event carefully before sending the first invitation.

1. Check text and links

Old text and links may still appear in the new event.

Please note: Always check all text and links in your duplicated event before sending invitations.

2. Check your marketing settings

The marketing settings from your old event are copied exactly as they are.

Please note: This can be difficult to undo later. So make sure to check the marketing settings of your old event before duplicating it.

Duplicating formal events

If you duplicate a formal event, the new event will also be formal.

The following applies:

  • all text will remain in the formal writing style

  • a duplicated email will stay exactly the same as in the previous event

  • if you create a new email in the event afterward, the system will again check whether it should be formal or informal

Tip

Use duplication especially for events that return regularly. That way, you do not have to rebuild settings, pages, and emails from scratch.
