Setting up payment methods for paid tickets

Learn how to set up payment methods for paid entry tickets in Momice through Mollie, how participants pay, and how transaction fees and Pay Later work.

When selling paid entry tickets through Momice, payments are processed by Mollie. You can choose which payment methods to offer by activating them in your own Mollie account.

In this article, you'll learn how to make payment methods available, how participants complete payments, and what to keep in mind.

Activating payment methods through Mollie

You manage the available payment methods directly in your own Mollie account.

To make payment methods available:

  1. Log in to your Mollie account.

  2. Go to the payment method settings.

  3. Activate the payment methods you want to offer.

  4. Check whether the payment methods are available for your account.

Please note: Your Mollie account must be verified and connected to Momice to receive payments.

How does a participant pay?

When a participant purchases a paid entry ticket, the payment process works as follows:

  1. The participant selects a paid entry ticket and completes the registration form.

  2. The participant is redirected to Mollie's secure payment page.

  3. The participant selects an available payment method and completes the payment.

  4. After a successful payment, the registration is completed and the participant receives the registration confirmation.

The payment methods displayed on the payment page depend on your Mollie account settings and their availability for the specific payment.

Good to know: You don't need to configure payment methods separately in Momice. You manage them entirely through Mollie.

Payments from international participants

Are you expecting participants from different countries? Make sure you offer payment methods that are suitable for your international audience.

Not every payment method is available in every country. Availability may also depend on the participant's bank or payment card.

Tip: Before you start selling tickets, check which payment methods are available for your target audience.

Transaction fees per payment method

Mollie charges transaction fees for processing payments. These fees vary depending on the payment method and are paid by your organization.

Mollie transaction fees are separate from the Momice service fee.

You can find the current transaction rates in your Mollie account or on the Mollie website.

Pay Later using a payment link

With the Pay Later option, participants can complete their registration without paying immediately.

This is how you activate Pay Later:

  1. Go to Ticket Module → Settings.

  2. Enable the Pay Later option.

  3. Save your settings.

The participant receives a personal payment link that allows them to complete the payment at a later time.

Pay Later is not a separate Mollie payment method. When participants open the payment link, they can choose from the available payment methods.

After a successful payment, the participant receives the registration confirmation.
