With Pay Later, participants can register for a paid entry ticket and complete their payment at a later time using a personal payment link. This is useful when, for example, an employer or finance department handles the payment.
The participant's spot is reserved even if the payment has not yet been completed.
Enabling Pay Later
You can enable Pay Later for each event.
Go to Ticket Module → Settings.
Enable Pay Later.
Save your settings.
Participants can now choose whether to pay immediately or at a later time during registration.
How does Pay Later work for participants?
The participant selects a paid entry ticket and enters their registration details.
The participant selects Pay Later.
The participant receives an email with the Pay Later confirmation and a personal payment link.
The participant opens the payment page using the payment link and selects an available payment method.
After a successful payment, the participant receives the registration confirmation with the invoice and, if enabled, the e-ticket.
Tip: Participants can forward the email containing the payment link to someone else, such as their employer or finance department, to complete the payment.
Please note: The Pay Later confirmation is not a payment confirmation. The participant still needs to complete the payment using the personal payment link.
Customizing the Pay Later confirmation
When you enable Pay Later, the corresponding confirmation email becomes available in the Mail Module.
Go to Mail Module → Pay Later Confirmation.
Customize the email header and text.
Save your changes.
Please note: Do not remove the personal payment link from the email. This link is required to complete the payment.
Viewing outstanding payments
In the Registration Module, you can check which participants have already paid for their tickets.
The Paid Yes/No column shows the payment status:
Yes: The payment has been completed.
No: The payment has not yet been completed.
The payment status is also included in the registration export.
Sending a payment reminder
Do you want to send a reminder to participants with outstanding payments? You can select these participants when sending an email.
Go to the Mail Module and open a draft email by clicking the pencil icon.
Click Select invitees from overview.
Choose Select status.
Select Not paid.
Check the selected recipients and send the reminder.
Your organization is responsible for following up on outstanding payments.
Which payment methods are available with Pay Later?
Pay Later is not a separate payment method. It only determines when the participant pays.
When participants open their personal payment link, they are directed to Mollie's payment page, where they can choose from the available payment methods.
You can activate and manage these payment methods in your own Mollie account.
Please note: Pay Later does not automatically mean that participants can pay by bank transfer. This depends on the payment methods available in Mollie.
